The Multiplier Symbols and How They Combine

Orbs carrying values from a couple of times up to several hundred land on the grid at random and apply to the round. How they combine with each other is the single detail that decides what the game is capable of, and it is stated in one line of the rules.

The two possible rules

They add, or they multiply. Three orbs of ten combine to thirty under addition and to a thousand under multiplication, and the difference between those outcomes is the difference between a good round and a session-defining one.

This game adds them. That single fact caps the arithmetic far below where multiplication would take it, and it is worth knowing before forming any expectation.

When they apply

At the end of a tumble sequence, to the total accumulated across it. Orbs landing during any part of the sequence contribute, and the sum is applied once to the whole rather than to the individual win it landed alongside.

Checking the rule yourself

Find a round with two orbs and do the arithmetic. Watching the Gates of Olympus demo until two orbs land together, then dividing the payout by the pre-multiplier total, confirms whether the values summed or multiplied.

Reading the rules is faster, but doing it once removes any doubt about interpretation, and the interpretation is where mistakes live.

  • Read whether orbs add or multiply
  • Note the highest orb value available
  • Watch a round with two orbs and check the maths
  • Confirm they apply to the whole sequence
  • Compare against the stated maximum win

Why an orb landing on nothing still counts

Because the orb is independent of the winning combination. It contributes to the round’s multiplier whether or not it sits on a paying symbol, which is unlike most multiplier mechanics and easy to misread from watching alone.

What the mechanic does to the distribution

Concentrates return into rare rounds. A payout structure where an ordinary win can occasionally be multiplied by a large sum has to fund that from somewhere, and the somewhere is the frequency and size of ordinary wins.

What to take from the rule

An accurate ceiling. Knowing that orbs sum rather than compound places a realistic bound on what the mechanic delivers, and a realistic bound is worth more than an exciting one — particularly on a game whose promotional material leans heavily on the exception.
